It depends on the quality of the book, if the book is of pocket size with soft cover and grey paper i do the same because it’s important to write your notes during the reading and then after a while to recall them. I usually buy books of unknown authors in pocket size and then if i like the book i buy it in good quality and do not write any notes on its pages :))
